Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Significance Parliament has been prorogued until March 24, giving the Liberals time to hold a leadership contest before an election can be triggered. The opposition parties currently say they will then unite to defeat the Liberal government on a confidence motion at the first opportunity and force a spring election. Impacts The government could lose a confidence vote as early as March 26, triggering the general election. NDP leader Jagmeet Singh has pledged to vote against the government even though his party is not well prepared for an election. Trudeau’s move to prorogue parliament will be challenged in court as unconstitutional, although this will not affect the election. The Trudeau government is effectively over in a legislative and policy sense. Canada is on the threshold of what will likely be a decade of right-wing dominance in all spheres of governance.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
