Abstract
La pièce La paix des femmes de Véronique Côté, présentée au Théâtre La Bordée à Québec du 13 septembre au 8 octobre 2022, puis en webdiffusion pendant trois mois, traite de la marchandisation du corps de la femme. Ce sujet est tellement brûlant et polarisé que la pièce a suscité de vives réactions et laissé des traces profondes. Pour saisir ce phénomène multiforme, il importe d’exposer au préalable le contexte social qui a donné lieu à la création de la pièce, car il établit déjà la pertinence de celle-ci. J’examinerai ensuite le caractère polémique et féministe de son contenu. Puis j’étudierai les empreintes qu’ont laissées le texte dramatique et surtout sa réalisation scénique; je ferai ressortir les différentes natures de ces empreintes et leurs provenances variées qui déterminent leur portée idéologique. Enfin, je comparerai la pièce de Côté à ses antécédents culturels afin de montrer en quoi elle s’en démarque.
