Les enfants présentant un trouble développemental de la coordination sont plus susceptibles que leurs pairs avec un développement typique de présenter des problèmes de santé mentale. Cependant, les interventions tendent à se concentrer sur leurs habiletés motrices, négligeant leurs besoins psychosociaux. Pour mieux y répondre, une étude de la portée a été effectuée pour documenter les interventions probantes qui favorisent leur santé mentale. Quatre banques de données ont été consultées. Pour être sélectionnés, les articles devaient être publiés à partir de 2010, en anglais ou en français, impliquer des participants âgés de 5 à 18 ans avec un diagnostic ou une hypothèse diagnostique de TDC et présenter une intervention avec des mesures ou des résultats reliés à la santé mentale. Quinze articles ont été choisis et analysés. Les interventions avec des effets positifs sur la santé mentale comprenaient l’approche CO-OP en groupe, des programmes d’habiletés motrices, l’équitation thérapeutique, les jeux vidéo actifs et un module en ligne pour les parents. Des effets significatifs ont été notés concernant la satisfaction du rendement occupationnel, le fonctionnement émotionnel, comportemental, social et cognitif, ainsi que la diminution des symptômes de dépression et des problèmes de sommeil. Des recommandations sont discutées en s’appuyant sur les résultats, de même que sur la théorie de l’autodétermination, l’approche Every Moment Counts et des facteurs de protection.
