Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Amphibians are native to all continents, except Antarctica, and occupy a wide variety of aquatic, semi-aquatic, and terrestrial habitats. Amphibians are found from the equatorial rainforest to Canada, where they may remain frozen through the winter. Amphibians are routinely maintained in human care as pets, in laboratories, and in zoos for education, as well as conservation and reintroduction projects. The respiratory physiology of amphibians is unlike that of any other animal taxa. Vascular access is limited by animal size. Transillumination is a useful technique for highlighting the pathways of major vessels. Intramuscular injections can be administered in the large muscles of the hind limbs. The aquatic nature and skin permeability of amphibians makes topical use of anesthetic agents a convenient means of achieving systemic effects. Respiratory ventilation is reduced or absent during amphibian anesthesia. The dermis is kept moist to allow for efficient dermal respiration. Analgesia should be considered for any noxious procedures in amphibians.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
