Abstract
The article examines the internationalization of the RMB within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), highlighting its potential to reshape global currency dynamics. It addresses the economic, infrastructural, and geopolitical challenges impeding the RMB's progress as an international currency. The analysis focuses on the BRI's role in fostering cross-border settlements, enhancing financial infrastructure, and developing RMB pricing mechanisms, especially for commodities. Despite significant strides, the RMB's global acceptance remains uneven, necessitating strategic reforms in financial systems and policies. Recommendations include bolstering regional demand, improving pricing functions, and fostering onshore-offshore market integration to strengthen RMB's status as a global currency.
