Abstract
Objetivo: tem-se por objetivo analisar como a Library and Archives Canada (LAC), o seu Arquivo Nacional, alicerça suas bases teóricas e como se dá suas ações práticas na função avaliação de documentos, principalmente com a macroavaliação. Metodologia: A pesquisa é de natureza básica, qualitativa e exploratória, realizou-se análise documental na página eletrônica do Arquivo Nacional do Canadá e aplicação de questionário.Resultados: Canadá, no período pós-guerra, inicialmente seguiu os passos dos Estados Unidos, mas depois abriu seu próprio caminho de acordo com seus problemas e realidades, elaborando preceitos teóricos e instrumentos práticos referentes a ação da avaliação de documentos. Conclusões: Foi relevante perceber a base teórica utilizada por essa instituição de destaque, e também como é o seu fazer no âmbito da avaliação de documentos, os instrumentos utilizados e as dificuldades enfrentadas, às vezes semelhantes às nossas, mesmo em um país desenvolvido como o Canadá.
