Abstract

A polymer is a large molecule composed of repeating structural units called monomers, which are bonded together to form long chains. A topological index is a numerical value derived from the structure of a molecular graph, used to describe its topology and predict chemical, physical, or biological properties. This study explores the topological properties of cellulose and amylopectin networks using neighborhood degree sum-based indices. We compute NM-polynomials for these molecular structures, facilitating the derivation of various neighborhood degree sum-based indices through advanced algebraic and calculus-based methods. By revealing intricate connectivity patterns and structural features, this research extends the application of chemical graph theory to complex carbohydrate networks. Our findings offer valuable insights into the topology of cellulose and amylopectin, opening new avenues for exploration in molecular modeling, materials science, and biochemistry.
