In een studie, gevraagd door Minister Demotte, brengt het Federaal Kenniscentrum voor de Gezondheidszorg (KCE) een gunstig advies uit over een algemene inenting van jonge kinderen met het pneumokokkenvaccin. Volgens dit onderzoek is een 3-malige vaccinatie even doeltreffend maar kosteneffectiever dan de 4 vaccindosissen die momenteel in België nog worden gegeven.
