Dès l’ouverture de son nouvel espace d’exposition en 2016, l’Institut Mémoires de l’édition contemporaine (IMEC, France) a inauguré une série d’expositions intitulée Le Lieu de l’archive, dans lesquelles la notion de l’archive se métamorphose en un espace vivant de création. Depuis lors, cette approche novatrice a permis à chacun des neuf écrivains et écrivaines, artistes et philosophes d’assumer le rôle de commissaire dans le cadre d’une carte blanche, avec comme fil directeur « d’apporter une nouvelle lecture, un nouveau regard » sur les archives conservées à l’abbaye d’Ardenne. L’objectif de cette étude est de présenter cette série et d’explorer la mise en exposition personnelle de l’espace de l’archive à travers des procédés de narrativisation, qui permettent un déploiement de la fabrique de l’oeuvre, du geste créateur littéraire sur les cimaises et sous vitrine. En plus de ces réflexions sur l’espace muséal en tant qu’environnement narratif singulier, le présent article vise à examiner le rôle de l’écrivaine-commissaire et écrivain-comissaire, ainsi que la série éditoriale qui accompagne le cycle d’expositions comme un lieu « curatorial » potentiel. Il s’agira donc d’une analyse approfondie et comparative de différents cas d’étude, incluant les réalisations de Valérie Mréjen (Soustraction, 2019), Jean-Michel Alberola (Le Fleuve, 2021) et Georges Didi-Huberman (Tables de montage, 2023), ainsi que les publications associées à ces expositions.
