Abstract
Les sciences humaines et sociales ont connu ces dernières années un « tournant spatial », témoignant ainsi d’une prise en compte de la dimension spatiale des sociétés qui déborde la discipline géographique. Cette sensibilité à l’espace par les sciences humaines et sociales touche notamment les études sur la mort, ainsi qu’en témoigne ce numéro de la revue Frontières . Les sept textes qui le composent proviennent de la géographie, de la sociologie, de l’archéo-anthropologie, ou encore de l’histoire. Par-delà la diversité des disciplines, des objets de recherche ou des outils théoriques mobilisés, ces textes partagent le même souci de questionner les lieux et les espaces de la mort dans différents contextes. Ils mettent en lumière le fait que la mort, loin d’être un simple événement ponctuel, s’inscrit dans des pratiques sociales, des processus mémoriels et des dispositifs spatiaux qui continuent d’agir sur les vivants et leur quête de sens ».
