Abstract
L’objet de cet article est de montrer en quoi et comment les nouvelles technologies peuvent altérer de façon majeure l’utilisation et la place de la main chez l’humain, et en quoi cela soulève des enjeux qu’on aurait tort de négliger puisqu’ils concernent le profil des futurs travailleurs, clients et usagers. Nous abordons d’abord la place de la main dans l’histoire humaine, soit son rôle dans l’évolution en tant que marqueur d’identité, outil d’action, d’interface et de communication. Nous résumons ensuite les connaissances sur le couple main-cerveau. Puis, nous abordons les fonctions susceptibles d’être profondément modifiées par les avancées technologiques : la mémoire, les communications, la prise d’information (le tactile), la créativité et les savoir-faire. Deux objets identifiés pour la qualité de symbiose des questions concernant la main sont abordés dans chacune des trois sections : la musique et l’écriture. Les commentaires conclusifs ciblent six points.
