Abstract
Patients with limited mobility often prefer to protect the privacy of their home by being transported to a dental clinic, not only for dental care but also for social stimulation and a welcome break from the monotony of home. Mobile and domiciliary dental clinics structured on the principles of inclusion, equity, and cultural sensitivity can be well placed to address oral healthcare needs and bring comprehensive preventive and curative care to communities that might otherwise be neglected. Arranging mobile dental services requires a comprehensive and systematic approach to ensure the effective delivery of care that can range from emergency to comprehensive services. The main challenge for dental personnel is the time required for traveling and the logistics of setting up the equipment. Nonetheless, it is a challenge worth overcoming to provide a personalized and patient-centered approach to preventive, curative, and restorative dental care for people who cannot otherwise access dental services.
