Abstract
Cet article met en regard le roman d’Alexandra Kleeman, You Too Can Have a Body Like Mine , et divers essais de Martine Delvaux. Ces deux auteures étudient, dans leurs écrits, la télévision et notamment l’impact des images y étant diffusées. Elles exposent entre autres les systèmes qui soutiennent la domination patriarcale et que le petit écran aide à invisibiliser en banalisant les représentations du pouvoir masculin et les violences faites aux femmes. Delvaux et Kleeman réfléchissent à ce que cela signifie de résister aux abus que dépeignent les programmes, de lutter contre les diktats que relayent les publicités dans le but de sérialiser les femmes. Le sujet capital de l’identité et de son contrôle est également abordé par le biais des émissions de télé-réalité et des tendances exhibitionnistes/voyeuristes encouragées par le petit écran. Ultimement, Delvaux et Kleeman proposent un examen de la télévision et de la manière dont elle affecte la société, la perception de soi ainsi que les relations interpersonnelles.
