Abstract
In der Praxis wie in wissenschaftlichen Publikationen, werden Frauen und Mädchen mit Behinderungserfahrung meist nicht eigenständig betrachtet, sondern werden bestenfalls mitgedacht. Wünsche, Bedürfnisse und Anliegen von Frauen mit (geistiger) Behinderung fanden erst in den letzten Jahren vereinzelt Berücksichtigung. Da Frauen und Männer mit sogenannter geistiger Behinderung unter marginalisierenden Bedingungen leben, kommt der Initiierung von Empowermentprozessen eine besondere Bedeutung zu. Die vorliegende Dissertation zeigt, wie unterschiedlich Frauen mit Behinderungserfahrung ihren individuellen Empowermentprozess auffassen und wie sehr sich die Vorstellung von Empowerment individuell im Lebenslauf (bei sich entwickelnder Reflexionsbereitschaft und Reflexionsfähigkeit) selbst verändert. Sie zeigt, dass die interviewten Frauen eigene, subjektive Vorstellungen davon entwickeln - und ständig weiterentwickeln -, was sie 'empowert' und was weniger hilfreich und förderlich ist, um zur Selbstermächtigung zu gelangen. Sie gibt Impulse für die professionelle Praxis mit Frauen mit Behinderungserfahrung und legt den Handlungsbedarf für eine gendersensible Soziale Arbeit mit behinderten Frauen und Männern offen
