Abstract
Die Ablösung vom Elternhaus ist für jeden Menschen ein wichtiger Schritt auf dem Weg in ein selbstständiges Leben als Erwachsener. In jeder Familie müssen sich sowohl die Eltern als auch die Heranwachsenden dabei mit Schwierigkeiten und Belastungen im Laufe dieses Prozesses auseinandersetzen. Für Familien Heranwachsender mit einer Behinderung stellen der Ablösungsprozess und die damit einhergehenden Probleme eine spezielle Herausforderung dar. Die Autorin legt in dieser qualitativen Studie der Fokus auf die Eltern Heranwachsender oder Erwachsener mit geistiger Behinderung und geht der Frage nach, welche Erfahrungen sie im Zusammenhang mit dem Übergang von Tochter oder Sohn in das Wohnen außerhalb des Elternhauses machen. Die ganzheitliche Herangehensweise - theoretische Betrachtungen und praktische Erfahrungen gehen Hand in Hand - erweitert die Darstellung der Ablösungsprozesse um Erkenntnisse aus Psychologie und Soziologie. Außerdem wird durch die Betrachtung der Ablösung als Übergang ein neuer Zugang zum Untersuchungsgegenstand gewählt
