Abstract
Based on a field trip conducted in the fall of 2019, this article tries and assesses how the tourism sector took advantage of the Canada/US border in the Pacific Northwest, one of the most dynamic cross-border regions in North America, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. More precisely, it aims at determining whether the border plays a role in terms of marketing, promotion and cooperation for local and regional stakeholders. In spite of the regional identity that binds the region together and all the cross-border initiatives that exist in different sectors, the Canada/US border represents a missed opportunity for tourism.
