Abstract
Depuis les années 1960, l'utilisation du mot province pour désigner le Québec est contestée par certains nationalistes qui préfèrent lui donner le titre de nation ou d'État. Après une accalmie à la suite du référendum de 1995, la polémique autour de la façon de désigner le Québec réapparaît de plus en plus souvent dans les médias depuis 2015 sans que les dictionnaires n'en tiennent compte. Nous proposons ici une mise à jour sur la question et une description polyphonique du mot province au Québec de façon à rendre compte des différentes idéologies portées par ce mot tout en explorant une nouvelle lexicographie rendue possible par le recours au numérique.
