Abstract
Un programme pilote de rééducation sensitive pour les neuropathies périphériques induites par la chimiothérapie (NPIC) a été développé par une ergothérapeute d’un centre de cancérologie du Québec. Inspiré de la méthode de rééducation sensitive de la douleur (MRSD) de Spicher (2003) pour les cas de traumas nerveux, ce programme novateur dans le contexte oncologique s’adresse aux personnes présentant des douleurs ou des inconforts neuropathiques au niveau des mains ou des pieds. Le programme comporte un volet de rééducation sensitive et un volet d’exercices physiques. Il vise à diminuer les symptômes neuropathiques et à améliorer les capacités fonctionnelles et la qualité de vie. Les résultats sont prometteurs chez les personnes qui ont une prise en charge rapide, s’engagent activement et montrent une assiduité dans la mise en place des recommandations. D’autres études sont toutefois nécessaires pour étayer la validité d’un tel programme auprès de cette clientèle.
