Image restoration is the technique of taking a noisy or corrupted image and approximating the original and clean image. The image captured will be degraded because of either noise or camera misfocus or random atmospheric turbulence. Image restoration is to get back the original image by improving the quality of blurred image. The restoration is complex and costlier when performing this process. This paper gives a detailed literature study about the image restoration and some of the techniques for restoration. Several types of noise such as motion blur and misfocused cameras would make picture restoration more difficult. There are wide variations in the degree of image corruption, as well as in the difficulty of photo restoration for practical uses. Furthermore, manual restoration takes a long time, which causes a backlog of work.
