Abstract
Sungai Aek Pohon merupakan bagian tengah dari DAS Batang Gadis. Bertambah luasnya kawasan terbangun dan maraknya penambangan galian golongan c di lokasi ini dikhawatirkan akan mengakibatkan berkurangnya fungsi kawasan Daerah aliran sungai (DAS) Batang Gadis, khususnya Sub DAS Aek Pohon sebagai kawasan konservasi dan ketersediaan ruang terbuka hijau dan fasilitas pelayanan umum dan tidak sesuainya dengan Rencana Tata Ruang Mandailing Natal. Tujuan dari Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi sebaran dan fungsi lahan dan kesesuaian fungsi lahan Sub DAS Aek Pohon yang berada pada Kecamatan Panyabungan terhadap RTRW Kabupaten Mandailing Natal. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pemanfaatan lahan Sub DAS Aek Pohon di Kecamatan Panyabungan didominasi sektor pertanian dengan luas 82,9% dari total luas lahan. Sektor ini meliputi sawah, perkebunan, ladang, kolam, kebun campuran dan hutan. Penggunaan lahan lainnya untuk pemukiman seluas 7,9 %, industri dan perdagangan seluas 1,3 % dan sisanya semak belukar dan sungai. Kesesuaian lahan di Sub DAS Aek Pohon pada Kecamatan Panyabungan terhadap Rencana Tata Ruang dan Wilayah Kabupaten Mandailing Natal memiliki dua kategori kesesuaian yaitu tinggi seluas 900,14 Ha, dengan pemanfaatan yang sesuai berupa pengembangan perkotaan, dan katagori kesesuaian lahan sedang dengan luas lahan sebesar 827,46 Ha, sesuai untuk kegiatan konservasi lahan
