Abstract
Pas moins que l’exode de la population canadienne-française vers les États-Unis, l’émigration acadienne depuis les Provinces maritimes vers la Nouvelle-Angleterre, entre le milieu du 19e siècle et la Grande Dépression, constitue une phase majeure de l’évolution de l’Acadie moderne. Afin de cerner les spécificités de cette diaspora, nous nous intéressons aux mobilités circulaires entre la région de Par-en-Bas, au sud-ouest de la Nouvelle-Écosse, et les villes d’accueil du Massachusetts. Sous l’angle des migrations transnationales, nous examinons, dans un premier temps, deux études de cas multigénérationnelles, et ensuite, pour comprendre la persistance identitaire, des témoignages de descendants de migrants.
