Undang-Undang Nomor 18 Tahun 2008 mendefinisikan sampah sebagai sisa kegiatan sehari-hari manusia atau proses alam berbentuk padat. Pengelolaan sampah yang tepat menjadi krusial untuk mencegah pencemaran lingkungan dan gangguan kesehatan. Penelitian ini berfokus pada tingkat partisipasi, kesadaran masyarakat dan arahan konsep pengelolaan sampah rumah tangga yang dapat diterapkan di Kecamatan Ujung Bulu, Kabupaten Bulukumba. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif, studi ini menerapkan analisis pembobotan dan kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan dukungan kuat masyarakat terhadap pengelolaan sampah rumah tangga. Mayoritas responden sangat setuju dengan keterlibatan fisik (72%), pentingnya pengelolaan (76%), dan partisipasi dalam pemilahan sampah (82%). Serta metode composting muncul sebagai rekomendasi utama, mengingat efisiensi biaya, kebutuhan lahan minimal, kemudahan implementasi, dan kesesuaiannya dengan karakteristik wilayah yang didominasi sektor pertanian dan perkebunan (85% total area). Lebih jauh, metode ini menawarkan solusi terhadap keterbatasan subsidi pupuk pemerintah, mendorong kemandirian ekonomi petani lokal. Penelitian ini menyoroti pentingnya kolaborasi masyarakat dan pemerintah dalam mengatasi tantangan pengelolaan sampah, sambil membuka peluang untuk inovasi berkelanjutan di masa depan.
