Abstract
This chapter examines Arctic Law of the Sea, focusing on completed and ongoing maritime delimitations. Using UNCLOS principles and the cooperative practices of Arctic states, it analyzes treaties in the Bering Sea (1990) and the Barents Sea (2010). Considering the current geopolitical situation, including Russia’s war against Ukraine and the potential return of Donald Trump to the United States presidency, the chapter explores future scenarios for these treaties and unresolved issues like the Beaufort Sea dispute between Canada and the US. While current legal frameworks and cooperation have provided a basis for resolving disputes, the evolving geopolitical landscape, particularly with increased resource exploitation and scepticism towards multilateral agreements, requires vigilant monitoring and adaptive strategies to manage and resolve these complex issues.
