I midten af ældre bronzealder var bebyggelsen vest for ungmorænen i det sydligeJylland karakteriseret af robuste treskibede langhuse. Indenfor de senere år er deri Vejen kommune undersøgt en række lokaliteter med bebyggelseslevn fra perioden.På lokaliteten Kongehøj II blev der fundet en halv snes hustomter, hvor det største ogkraftigste langhus blev genstand for detaljerede arkæobotaniske analyser. Herfra foreliggervigtige informationer om blandt andet husindretning og agerbrug på en gårdfra 1300-tallet før vor tidsregning. Bebyggelsen er med til at nuancere billedet af denlandbrugsmæssige udvikling, der tilsyneladende finder sted i løbet af den ældre bronzealder.Dog er det vanskeligt at vurdere forholdet mellem agerbruget og husdyrholdet,da førstnævnte er stærkt overrepræsenteret på bopladserne.
