Abstract
I første halvdel af 1900-tallet blev der fundet tre massive skafthuløkser af bronze ved Bækbølling i Føvling sogn, Sydvestjylland. Der er tale om kostbare genstande fra bronzealderens begyndelse, som var deponeret i kanten af et tidligere vådområde. Bronzeøkserne er med til at understrege regionens særlige betydning i begyndelsen af ældre bronzealder, for ud over at repræsentere en høj metalværdi, vidner de også om langdistancekontakter. De tre skafthuløkser fra Bækbølling er alle af Fårdrup-typen, og dermed hører de hjemme i bronzealderens periode IB (1600-1500 f.Kr.). I dette århundrede stod drastiske forandringer for døren, for snart kulminerede cirkulationen af prestigegenstande sammen med opførelsen af tørvebyggede rundhøje og treskibede langhuse med bulvægge.
