Abstract

En af oldtidens mest oversete anlægstyper er den gravlignende nedgravning på to meters dybde, som indtil videre kun er påvist i Sydvestdanmark. Anlægget hører tilsyneladende hjemme i den senere del af yngre stenalder, men der foreligger blot sparsomme og uklare informationer om dets funktion og betydning. Den primære årsag til dette er anlæggenes mangel på genstande og ligspor. Men efterhånden kendes mere end 120 eksempler på „dybe anlæg”, og en storlokalitet ved Holsted antyder en form for systematik i deres topografiske beliggenhed. Ved at se nærmere på anlæggenes indbyrdes placering i landskabet og deres geografiske udbredelse, burde de mange forskellige tolkningsmuligheder kunne indsnævres til et mindre antal, og dermed bevæger vi os lidt nærmere en opklaring af problemet omkring anlægstypens funktioner.
