Abstract
Closed-form time-dependent three-dimensional thermal Green’s functions are derived for a steady-state point heat source in a two-phase transversely isotropic elastic solid with a viscous interface using the method of images. Explicit expressions for the displacements and stresses in the two half-spaces are presented. The thermoelastic fields in each of the two half-spaces are found to evolve with a single intrinsic velocity, which is determined by the thermal conductivities, thermal expansion coefficients and elastic constants of the two half-spaces and is inversely proportional to the interface viscosity coefficient.
