Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

This case study analyzes Edgar Inc.'s transition to a cooperative, an employee-owned structure, focusing on the motivations, challenges, and implications of this ownership transformation. Employing a qualitative approach that includes semi-structured interviews, the study investigates five areas: the drivers of the conversion, encountered obstacles, impacts on governance and decision-making, effects on corporate social responsibility (CSR), and employee perceptions of ownership and participation. This case study suggests that the relationship between the cooperative model and CSR is more complex than expected. In addition, Coop Edgar clearly shows a process of adapting employee perceptions that goes beyond the conversion process itself. This research contributes to the literature on cooperative conversions, providing insights into governance and CSR impacts and offering practical guidance for stakeholders considering similar transitions. Additionally, it advances theoretical understanding of how cooperative models influence employee empowerment and organizational commitment.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
