Continuous Flow Contact Electrocatalysis for Hydrogen Peroxide Production
Bibliographic record
Abstract
For enhancing hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) production by means of contact electrocatalysis, we describe the operation of a column reactor packed with poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) microparticles through which water continuously flows. The hydrophobic PTFE particles (12 μm average diameter) remain stationary within the column, creating an extensive reaction interface without requiring particle dispersion. Operating at a water flow rate of 1.0 mL min –1 in a 35 mm long, 3.175 mm diameter column under ambient conditions, the system achieves an H 2 O 2 production rate of 10.7 mM h –1 . This might be compared with a previously reported batch contact electrocatalysis system [ Zhao, J. Angew. Chem., Int. Ed. 2023, 62, e202300604 ]. in which PTFE particles float on a water surface and give a rate of H 2 O 2 production that is 34 times smaller. We also demonstrate the versatility of this approach in practical applications, including bacterial disinfection and pollutant degradation; in 3.3 min, 89% of 5 ppm crystal violet was removed. This study introduces a scalable and sustainable strategy for transforming conventional contact electrocatalysis processes into productive flow-based chemistries.

Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
