Transfer Matrix Method of Modulation-Based Space-Time Structures

Abstract
Amidst the current renewal of interest for space-time modulated structures, there is a need for simple modeling tools. In this context, the transfer-matrix method (TMM) has recently been generalized to space-time structures. The derivation of this generalized TMM requires acrobatic frame-hopping, and the resulting equations lack symmetry. Here, we present an alternative derivation that avoids frame-hopping and treats the temporal and the spatial periodicities in a symmetric fashion. This leads to simpler equations with easier interpretation.
