Internet a favorisé le développement de nouvelles pratiques musicales et l’émergence de nouveaux formats de réalisation. Aux côtés d’une montée en puissance des vidéos musicales dites « live » sur des chaînes dédiées à la ligne éditoriale toujours plus marquée, on observe le développement de différentes pratiques de livestream depuis le confinement de mars 2020. Si le succès du live n’est pas nouveau, les plateformes de streaming et les possibilités introduites par le Web ont activement participé à modifier les normes et le statut de la performance musicale. Quels sont les nouveaux (et nombreux) avatars du live sur le Web ? Et quelles sont leurs nouveautés par rapport à des modalités plus « classiques » de la performance musicale ? En proposant une ontologie du live sur Internet, avec un point d’orgue sur les pratiques de livestream , cet article cherche à savoir si ces nouvelles façons de performer en ligne menacent le caractère vivant, exclusif et irremplaçable de la performance musicale, ou si, au contraire, elles constituent une réelle opportunité créative.
