Heat Exchanger (HE) merupakan alat yang digunakan untuk memindahkan panas antara dua fluida yang berbeda temperaturnya. HE yang telah dioperasikan pada jangka waktu tertentu perlu dievaluasi kinerjanya berdasarkan nilai fouling factor, pressure drop dan efisiensi. HE yang dievaluasi adalah HE Lube Oil Complex-III pada unit Fresh Gas and Recycle Gas di PT. Pertamina RU IV Cilacap. Pertukaran panas terjadi antara charge oil dengan gas hydrogen hasil reaksi dari reaktor berkatalis. Pada HE dapat terjadi kerak akibat akumulasi bahan pengotor dari reaksi berkatalis yang terbawa oleh gas hydrogen dari reaktor ke HE akibat katalis yang sudah jenuh dan dapat meningkatkan nilai fouling factor, pressure drop dan menurunkan efisiensi. Untuk itu perlu dilakukan pergantian katalis pada reaktor untuk mengurangi akumulasi pengotor yang terbawa dari reaktor ke HE. Tujuan studi ini adalah mengevaluasi pengaruh pergantian katalis terhadap perubahan nilai fouling factor, pressure drop dan efisiensi HE. Evaluasi dilakukan dengan menghitung ketiga nilai tersebut berdasarkan data sekunder dari lapangan yang dikumpulkan tahun 2022 dan 2023. Data tersebut kemudian dihitung rata rata dan digunakan untuk menghitung nilai fouling factor, pressure drop dan efisiensi HE sebelum dan sesudah pergantian katalis. Hasil yang didapatkan setelah pergantian katalis terjadi penuruan fouling factor dari 0,001658 ft2.F/Btu menjadi 0,001575 ft2.F/Btu, pressure drop 10,6811 psi menjadi 9,5364 psi untuk shell dan 18,9667 psi menjadi 8,6353 psi untuk tube, efiensi naik dari dari 80,76% menjadi 80,97%. Pergantian katalis berpengaruh pada fouling factor dan pressure drop dengan kenaikan efisiensi yang kecil.
