Abstract
Los referentes y homenajes literarios que prodiga Benito Pérez Galdós en El doctor Centeno (personajes, argumentos, temas, puntos de vista) a algunas figuras o modalidades literarias clásicas como la picaresca o Cervantes, Manrique, la Celestina o Calderón están intercalados a largo de un relato, y el autor los adecua a su “segunda manera de novelar”, demostrando que son compatibles la herencia clásica y el realismo, y asumiendo plenamente los mejores logros de la tradición literaria española. También demuestra maestría para la recuperación analéptica de algunos personajes de otras novelas, anteriores y posteriores.
