Abstract
La pérdida del pretendido monopolio de los historiadores profesionales sobre el pasado y la predominante concepción presentista de la historia han dotado de una inusitada vitalidad a una disciplina que, lejos de estar en crisis, nos obliga a intensificar los esfuerzos por transferir el resultado de nuestras investigaciones al resto de la sociedad. Desde el ámbito de la historia moderna, el artículo plantea algunas consideraciones sobre la necesidad de acercarse al estudio de las estructuras imperiales a través de un enfoque capaz de conjugar las dinámicas globales con el peso determinante del ámbito local, el análisis del papel vertebrador ejercido por todo tipo de conectores y entramados superpuestos o la memoria de las múltiples manifestaciones de resistencia e hibridación.
