Abstract
Dans cet article, nous verrons de quelle manière Maître Eckhart a su ouvrir les perspectives du langage en parlant à partir de l’éternité, et en orientant son discours vers elle. C’est ainsi qu’il a pu, selon nous, rendre au verbe humain tout son éclat divin, et faire de l’Homme un « adverbe auprès du Verbe », disposant l’âme à recevoir pleinement l’Amour de Dieu, sa grâce incréée comme don de Son Esprit. Le Maître a ainsi été un poète mystique, autant qu’un philosophe et un théologien : il a rendu au langage toutes ses nuances, toute sa subtilité, car il a laissé l’Esprit de Dieu excéder le logos. Cet excès est non seulement un débordement du sens, mais aussi et surtout une inhabitation du Verbe dans l’âme, l’épreuve d’un pathos spirituel. Parler de ce dont on ne peut pas parler revient ainsi à tenter son approche par le sentiment, le pathos, c’est-à-dire par ce que nous appelons, dans cet article, le langage du coeur où la troisième vertu théologale devient première, à travers l’expérience commune et singulière, l’épreuve intérieure de l’amour de Dieu.
