De l’insécurité à la sécurité linguistique chez les jeunes francophones du Nouveau-Brunswick: une perspective longitudinale

Abstract
L’insécurité linguistique est documentée depuis 30 ans en Acadie du Nouveau-Brunswick. L’enquête Boudreau-Dubois, menée entre 1989 et 1994 auprès de jeunes francophones du secondaire, a été la première à attester du phénomène et à faire ressortir des attitudes dévalorisantes envers le français parlé en Acadie et ce, à des degrés variables entre régions minoritaires et régions majoritaires. Or, ces constats sont-ils toujours d’actualité 30 ans plus tard ? Cette contribution rend compte de résultats préliminaires d’une enquête effectuée au printemps 2023 qui vise à y apporter des éléments de réponses. L’objectif est d’analyser les plus récentes données recueillies dans une perspective longitudinale. Les premiers résultats montrent que les jeunes d’aujourd’hui sont en meilleure sécurité linguistique qu’autrefois, bien que les écarts régionaux demeurent saillants.
