Abstract
Le Québec a connu une forte augmentation de l’immigration, accueillant un nombre record d’immigrants permanents et temporaires en 2022 et en 2023. Afin que ces nouveaux arrivants puissent apprendre la langue française ou en bonifier leur maîtrise, le gouvernement propose des services de francisation. Cet article se concentre sur les cours de francisation qui s’adressent aux adultes nouveaux arrivants de 16 ans et plus et qui visent à développer les compétences en français oral et écrit, en même temps qu’à favoriser l’acquisition d’une compétence interculturelle et l’intégration sociale. Il met en lumière les progrès, défis et lacunes rencontrés dans les cours de francisation au Québec, suggérant des ajustements afin de mieux répondre aux besoins variés des nouveaux arrivants et d’assurer une intégration réussie au sein de la société québécoise.
