La francophonie des immigrant·e·s du Maghreb au Québec : entre assignation politique et légitimité incertaine

Abstract
L’objectif général de cet article est d’analyser les conditions de participation à l’édification de l’identité francophone québécoise telles qu’elles apparaissent dans les récits d’immigrant·e·s du Maghreb. De l’analyse discursive d’un corpus d’entretiens portant sur l’élaboration et l’accomplissement du projet migratoire au Québec ressort une dissonance entre les objectifs politiques visant l’immigration francophone et les expériences des personnes. Par exemple, les représentations prémigratoires sur le Québec, construites par un faisceau de discours de promotion de l’immigration, se voient remises en question lorsque l’image idéalisée que se font les immigrants de l’expérience de la mobilité est confrontée aux difficultés de leur intégration socioprofessionnelle au Québec. Conjointement, l’identité francophone semble toujours éloignée de l'image d'une identité composite, tant la légitimité sociale des variétés du français issues des différentes aires francophones est encore à confirmer. En conclusion, la participation des francophones plurilingues issus de l’immigration maghrébine, comme de tous les francophones des périphéries, à l’identité linguistique québécoise est conditionnée par le caractère inclusif d’un « français d’ici » appréhendé comme « un français d’ici comprenant des français d’ailleurs », un français à l’image de la société québécoise, intrinsèquement hétérogène et mouvante.
