Abstract
The article presents information about the frst director of the Kamensk Museum of Local Lore - Mikhail Antonovich Krukovsky. His research expeditions to the Russian North, the Urals, and Western Siberia in the late 19 th and early 20th centuries are described. Krukovsky is known as a traveler and ethnographer who captured the life and way of life of the indigenous peoples of Russia in photographs. His works are kept in the collections of the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography. Peter the Great, the Russian National Library and other central repositories. The article systematizes new data on the early development of the Kamensk Museum and the activities of its frst director.
