Abstract

Volumetric displays offer transformative potential for interpreting 3D data across various fields, but current static technologies lack sufficient visualization quality for complex datasets. To address this, we developed a dynamic quantum dot volumetric display using two-photon absorption, capable of rendering 3D images at 30Hz. The system uses a 1030nm femtosecond laser, modulated by an acousto-optic modulator at up to 200MHz, to generate two-photon fluorescence within a quantum dot-doped medium. Image formation is controlled by a tunable acoustic gradient (TAG) lens for axial focusing and galvanometer mirrors for x-y positioning. The resulting 3D images are displayed in a 5x5x5cm cube, demonstrating the feasibility of real-time volumetric displays using quantum dot technology.
