Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The northward retreat of the Laurentide Ice Sheet over reverse slope topography south of Lac Saint-Jean has created an opportunity for meltwater to be impounded, resulting in the formation of proglacial lakes. In this area, we have inventoried 105 deltas and 238 wave-cut scarps associated with these glacial lakes by mapping regional Quaternary deposits and analyzing a LiDAR-derived hillshaded digital terrain model. The elevation and spatial distribution of these features were used to reconstruct eight successive lake phases of decreasing elevation (402, 393, 387, 383, 370, 344, 314, and 235 m) that expanded northward as lower elevation outlets were exposed by the retreating ice margin. The maximum extent of these lakes (403 km2) was reached at a lake phase of 387 m. The ice margin locations associated with these lake phases provide evidence of glacial retreat towards the Saguenay Graben.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
