Abstract
Ovrage pionnier dans les études animales intersectionnelles, La Politique sexuelle de la viande (1990) de Carol Adams analyse l’imbrication du sexisme et du spécisme pour montrer comment le patriarcat maintient une double domination sur les femmes et les animaux. Le présent article retrace le contexte intellectuel du livre et expose quelques-uns de ses concepts clés, tels que le « référent absent » et le « dédeçage », qui révèlent les mécanismes d’invisibilisation et de pérennisation de violences systémiques. Il s’agit surtout de mettre en évidence la pertinence de la théorie critique féministe végane dans la déconstruction des discours de naturalisation des oppressions. Envisagée sous un angle politique, la consommation de viande apparaît en tant que symbole par excellence de subjectivation masculine et de réification de l’autre.
