Abstract
Longtemps soumise à l’athéisme d’État, la religion orthodoxe a retrouvé progressivement dans l’espace post-soviétique sa centralité politico-culturelle. Si l’exemple de la Russie poutinienne illustre cette tendance à vouloir confondre religion et politique à des fins illibérales ou nationalistes, l’Ukraine n’est pas en reste. Outre l’affirmation par Petro Poroshenko d’un discours religieux traditionnaliste et populiste, des courants (ultra)nationalistes chrétiens ont émergé ces dernières années. Aussi semblables qu’ils puissent être par rapport aux autres mouvements (ultra)nationalistes qui militent pour la renaissance d’un État ukrainien émancipé du joug russe, ces fondamentalistes se démarquent néanmoins par leur révisionnisme identitaire de l’orthodoxie. Bâti autour d’une mythologie nationale dont le Tomos de 2019 serait l’aboutissement providentiel, leur discours entend proposer à l’aide du religieux une nouvelle ontologie de « l’ukrainité ». À cet égard, l’espace géographique dans lequel est censée s’affirmer cette ukrainité a toute son importance. Celui-ci relève d’un imaginaire spécifique que nous nous proposons d’analyser.
