Abstract
Le Chat dans le sac permet d’analyser les interactions entre le cinéma de Godard et celui de Gilles Groulx au début des années 60. Il se situe entre deux films de 1960-1962 qui l’ont inspiré (Le Petit Soldat; Vivre sa vie) et La Chinoise (1967), par rapport auxquels Groulx, en 1964, est nettement en avance sur Godard quant à la conception du rapport son/image. C’est un film charnière qui permet de comprendre les différences essentielles entre la pensée française et la pensée québécoise du cinéma au début des années 60, aussi bien en termes de conscience politique qu’en matière de conception technique.
