Abstract
Parmi les cinéastes du cinéma direct québécois, Perrault est l’un de ceux qui en ont développé le plus longtemps cette pratique, puisqu’il y reste fidèle jusque dans La Grande Allure , en 1985, un diptyque retraçant l’équipée des marins d’un voilier moderne partis sur les traces du premier voyage de Jacques Cartier au Canada. Notre hypothèse est que la démarche artistique de Perrault – soit le recyclage de la parole, son utilisation comme motif poétique – procède de son expérience de la radio, laquelle a laissé une marque reconnaissable sur son cinéma, sa poésie et son théâtre. Les documents qui seront étudiés concernent les travaux de Perrault avant 1961, tant les émissions radio ( Au pays de Neufve-France ) que les écrits ( Portulan, Au coeur de la rose ) et les films ( La Traverse d’hiver à l’île aux Coudres ).
