Abstract
Sport injury is a multifaceted experience affecting the well-being and performance of not only the injured athlete, but also their teammates and coaches. Mental performance consultants (MPCs) can serve an important role in supporting athletes, teams, and coaches when an athlete is injured yet current practices lack clear evidence-based strategies in providing support. In this paper, we review the impact of injury on athletes, teams, and coaches and review evidence-based strategies coaches and MPCs can implement with teams, to help athletes and teams deal with and grow from injury.
