Abstract
En réponse aux besoins émergents du milieu de pratique, qui mettent en lumière les disparités lexicales entre élèves, nous avons mené une recherche à visée préventive auprès d’élèves du 1er cycle du primaire (6 à 8 ans). La démarche expérimentale mise en œuvre, basée sur l’enseignement direct de vocabulaire, était combinée à des discussions entre pairs menées en contexte d’oral réflexif pour consolider les mots étudiés et favoriser les apprentissages en profondeur. Cet article compare l'apprentissage de vocabulaire chez les élèves associés à cette condition expérimentale avec celui d'élèves ayant pris part à d'autres types d'activités de consolidation des mots étudiés. Une approche méthodologique mixte (pré/posttests, journaux de bord, vidéos, entretiens) a notamment permis de reconnaitre l’apport des discussions réflexives sur le rappel oral du sens des mots et, dans une moindre mesure, sur la production de la forme orale des mots.
