Abstract

La rénovation de la salle dite des harnais fut l’opportunité de restaurer et de sauver un ensemble de harnais de la seconde moitié du XVIIIe siècle, conservés au musée national de la Voiture, afin de les présenter comme de véritables objets d’art au sein d’une sellerie. Les contraintes liées à ce choix d’exposition ont permis une réflexion sur le soclage de ces objets complexes et fragiles, à la fois discret et efficace. La restauration a redonné à ces œuvres leur éclat, et leur beauté retrouvée force l’admiration des visiteurs auxquels il faut donner des clés de lecture. Plusieurs œuvres peintes et graphiques ainsi qu’une maquette d’un carrosse à flèche de la fin du XVIIe siècle mettant ces œuvres en situation sur le dos des chevaux, offrent aux visiteurs les moyens de les comprendre et de les apprécier.
