Abstract
As highlighted by Henry Rousso (Citation1987), post-WWII narratives were strongly influenced by the Gaullist version of the resistance. It is only from the end of the 1960s onwards, when the first post-war generation came of age and after the death of de Gaulle, that different memories of this conflict less in line with the “resistancialist” version started to emerge in various intellectual and more popular circles. Interestingly, it took much longer for comics to reflect these new perspectives. The aim of this article is to investigate this memory turn in comics, and in particular the 15 years lag which can partly be explained by the specificities of the genre at the time and notably by the fact that the young were its primary audience. It will focus more specifically on the inclusion of children as main characters in comics dealing with this conflict, which only happened at the turn of the twenty-first century, after another lag of 15 years.
