This study focuses on the cultivation of Porphyra  spp., and although its cultivation helps carbon sequestration, reduces nutrient pollution and provides prospects for circular economy applications, large-scale cultivation also brings risks such as habitat destruction and biodiversity loss. The article explores the economic and environmental significance of laver cultivation and its key role in modern aquaculture, summarizes the opportunities and challenges of laver cultivation, and shows the successful experience and difficulties of laver cultivation through several case studies. Finally, it emphasizes the importance of policy formulation, international cooperation and market access to promote the sustainable development of laver industry.
